Let’s just clarify something – a diet is not the foods you eat, it’s EVERYTHING that you inhabit and consume in your life!
When we talk about a healthy diet, it is the thoughts you ponder, the images you screen on your phone and of course, the foods we enjoy.
Many of the fad ‘diets’ come and go simply because it is easy to view it as just a ‘3-week-challenge’. This may influence why it is easy to fall off the rails (just ask 5 people you know who have tried a diet whether they stuck with it all the way). The reality is, there is no magic formula for healthy living, just simple protocols and achievable steps to have in place.
So when you think about diets, or when considering whether you’re enjoying the one you’re on, consider this, your diet is a fusion of your values, goals and your present moment.
I’ll leave you with this – think of your diet as a 6-slice pizza!
- 1st slice – your mental/emotional state
- 2nd slice – types of food you consume
- 3rd slice – the company/environment you keep
- 4th slice – the quality of sleep you’re having
- 5th slice – how much physical movement you do
- 6th slice – your spiritual health (prayer, fasting, meditation etc.)
